Dirk has completed a Diabetes Course for Comprehensive Patient Care through the Graduate Institute of Optometry to broaden his knowledge with regard to diabetic patients in the practice. He is accredited by the Opthalmological Society of South Africa to perform Diabetic Retinopathy screenings in order to evaluate possible blood vessel damage that a diabetic patient may have incurred due to their condition. He also works closely with other diabetic practitioners in George to ensure that his diabetes patients get the best all round care to manage their condition effectively. The practice is also a CDE (Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology) registered provider.
